How to Setup Internet Connection on ATT Tilt
November 1, 2007 | Leave a Comment
I got a shiny new AT&T Tilt (HTC 8925) and I found it very confusing to setup internet connection on the device. Now I am a very technical person. If I couldn’t figure out how to setup internet connection on my Tilt within five minutes of powering it up (without searching google), i think most people will have difficulties doing so. It is no wonder why wireless data usage (apart from sms) lagged so much compared to voice in the US. I think the device OS (Windows Mobile 6 in this case, device manufacture (HTC) and wireless carrier really needs to work together to make it more user friendly.
To save you some time, here is the instruction on how to setup Internet Connection on the Tilt AT&T.
By the way, I think BlackBerry did a way better job at this. Your internet connection is automatically provisioned as soon as you power up the device.

Text Messaging Finally Catches on in USA?
October 30, 2006 | Leave a Comment
Once considered a service used only in Europe and Asia, text messaging is emerging as an important form of communication in the United States, with 40% of the nation’s 220 million mobile phone users sending text messages regularly, according to research from NPD Group.
By comparison, about 21 percent of U.S. subscribers have downloaded a ringtone (although only about 10% can be considered “active” downloaders), while about 9% have downloaded a mobile game.
According to CTIA-The Wireless Assn., U.S. subscribers sent close to 65 billion text messages through the first half of this year. That’s about double the number sent in the first half of 2005.

Go2 Mobile to Serve Yahoo Ads

One of the mobile directory services Go2 Mobile signed a deal with Yahoo to serve up yahoo advertising links:

Interestingly enough, Yahoo has its own mobile directory service as well, called Yahoo Local on Cingular MEdia Net homepage. For that matter, Google Local, Yellowpages.com are all featured on MEdia Net, which makes it pretty hard for anyone else to break into that space.
